Don't wait to the new year to get back into your routine.

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We had a pretty good pre-Christmas turnout at the gym. Better than I've seen at other gyms in years past. Keep it up on your way to the new year.

I came across this article today (full text here). It's a twin study where they found twins who have unequal activity levels (one twin worked out, the other didn't), and then they went searching for what was different between the twins (normalized against twins that were equally active). Turns out, the twin who worked out more was healthier in a whole bunch of metrics. Imagine that. I liked the part about more gray matter in the twin who worked out.

Of course, Amy, the real brain doctor, will probably have much better things to say about this. But until she corrects me, we'll say that working out will make you smarter, or at least keep your brain healthy, and we all know that the brain is the most important organ (according to the brain). Don't slack off this last week of the year. Get in the gym and keep moving.
