The USDA is at it again (still)

Dave uses heavy deadlifts off the blocks to help his sprinting.
Earlier this year, I posted one of my anti-goverment nutrition rants about how the USDA's recommendations exist to support special interests and have no interest in really promoting healthy eating.

It turns out that author Nina Teicholz wrote a book about the bad policies and was able to get on the national panel to make the next set of recommendations. Of course, she was quickly removed when she refused to toe the line. Here's the announcement of her removal. And a much more irreverent (though, quite accurate) discussion of the whole situation.

One more example of the government actively discouraging true scientific discussion for fear of harming the special interests who want you to eat mass-farmed highly-processed shelf-stable food-like monocrops rather than sustainable, healhy-for-you, and healthy-for-the-environment, responsibly produced food.
