Farm Report Monday

It's Farm Report Monday again. Yesterday we went to the Cure Organic Farm store again, and this time we got duck eggs (at Alek's request) and strawberry plants. We also got to meet Betty the wooly pig! Late spring and summer is an amazing time to get local food. Sure, it's easier and sometimes cheaper to just go to Safeway or King Soopers and get the same staples year round. But the typical grocery store is such a sterile, cold, impersonal place. Going to the source gets you closer to your food and taps into something wonderfully real. Eating seasonally and locally is not just Boulder-gimmicky, it's healthy for you and for the environment. Support your local farmers and ranchers and learn from them - they're excited to talk with you about how they raise their animals and grow their produce. And if you get a chance, try growing some of your own food. I'll let you know how the strawberries turn out!
