More on Strength Training for Endurance Athletes


Earlier this week, I wrote about strength training for endurance athletes. Yet another article came out about it. It's almost like there's a concerted PR effort with the frequency that these articles are showing up. Makes me happy though, I'm hoping that more endurance athletes start seeing these articles and start looking for strength training gyms in the off season.

The off season is the perfect time to focus on strength. It's good to take a break from the same stuff you've been doing all year. It allows you to recover, both mentally and physically, and you get a chance to focus on something new that will give you an advantage next year.



Workout

snatch pull 8-5-3x5
2 TGUs between sets

then

10 rounds for sense of urgency
3 snatches
3 OHS
5 burpees



Endurance Option

snatch pull
2 TGUs between sets

then

15 minutes below AeroMAX
3 snatches
3 OHS
5 burpees
