Heavy lifting makes you feel great

I know I'm always talking about how great lifting heavy is for you. It helps stoke your metabolic fire, it helps with your immune system, and it even helps your mood. I was reminded of that on Friday when we tested our deadlift max where everyone got a PR or PR-tie, so I know you went all out.

Usually after a Friday workout we chat a little and then everyone quickly heads out to start their weekend. Last Friday was different. You may not have noticed it, but you were all in a great mood. We hung out for at least a half hour after the workout and everyone was very chipper - much more so than usual. I attribute that to the heavy lifting.

More than once someone has come to class after a trying day of work in a bad mood and after couple heavy squats all of that has melted away. Lifting heavy is great for your mental health.
