Watch this documentary tonight

The Netflix algorithm is pretty good at recommending things for me. What's with Wheat showed up on my recommending viewing this weekend, so we gave it a shot. It's definitely worth your 1:18 to watch this. Do it tonight before you forget.

They didn't really weave a great story like I would expect from a good documentary, but they covered a ton of material in a short time. To be done correctly, it probably needs to be a 6-part Ken Burns special, but until he decides to do that, go watch this!

Ken, if you're one of my dozen readers, please pick up where you left off at the end of The Roosevelts. At the end of WWII, we had a large industrial food system build to feed the troops, so we needed something to do with all of that tooling. Now we can hybridize newly available Japanese wheat with European strains - creating the beginning of the now prevalent "Dwarf Wheat." And, the post-war chemical industry was built up and looking for new markets and invented a new cocktail of pesticides and fertilizers.

The documentary tied a few pieces together that I never thought about before. It even has all of the usual suspects - David Perlmutter, Terry Wahls, Joel Salatan, and even The Sisson shows up new the end.

I'm happy to see that the paleo movement has enough money to fund documentaries like this.
