It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye

Don't look at the eclipse today. Look around you and enjoy the natural world in a weird setting that doesn't come around too often. Put your phone down, this is a time to actually be present. Don't worry about photos, there are people much better than you planning their astrophotography and they'll get better photos than you ever hope to. You can enjoy theirs - you can even ask Michael, he loves to talk astophotography and show you really cool things you can't do.

Randy posted this last week:

been through an eclipse or two before. speaking from experience the glasses aren't where it's at. they take away from the direct sensory input. just being outside, going through every day activities, losing track of the time then suddenly sensing the weirdness and surreality of the light, the chill, the "uh oh," hair on the back of your neck standing up, that's the stuff right there. primal.
