The Role of Nutrition in Everything

As I was walking up to NCAR for our eclipse viewing, Randy texted me a link to this great video. The video is the original source for the article that I used in my previous rant about religion ruining our health.

Ignore the fact that this seminar was organized by CrossFit (HQ does get some things right), and please watch it! I cannot do it justice with a summary. One theme in this talk is that beliefs have driven science, not the other way around which is what we assume.

Also, just before I watched the video last night, Taleb posted another chapter of the Incerto on Medium. One theme in that chapter is "survival comes first, truth, understanding, and science later." He explains many cases where we have heuristics, rules-of-thumb, or even superstitions that keep us alive long enough (as a species) until we can create "science", but that you need to pay attention to what are irrational beliefs.

I'm too tired after a long day of eclipse following, but there is definitely something here. The serendipity of getting both of these links on the same day hasn't gone unnoticed. I always notice when my disparate worlds collide. I hope to get a fuller post about this after I wrap my head around it more, but I didn't want to wait until I got these thoughts out to you.

10 TGUs or windmills
10 goblet squats
5 pull-ups or push-ups or dips

Strength

power clean 3-2-4x2

Accessory/Skill

5 push-ups between strength sets

Group Workout

Spend 15 minutes working up to a new max for kettlebell clean from the ground (remember the pistol grip)

then 

5 rounds:
15 box jumps
15 push ups

then

2 minute single kettlebell rack hold, switch hands as needed
